Location Lat 1° 4' 0" S Long 127° 27' 0" E Djailolo Airfield was located to the west of Djailolo (Jailolo) in the central-western coast of the Halmahera Island (Pulau Halmahera) in the Molucca Island Group (Molucca Islands). Also spelled "Jailolo". Prewar and during the Pacific War located in Dutch New Guinea (DNG) in the Netherlands East Indies (NEI). Today, located in North Maluku Province in Indonesia. Construction Two runways were built at this location known as Djailolo No. 1 Airfield and Djailolo No. 2. Airfield. Some referneces list one or both as emergency strips. Djailolo No. 1: Lat 1°4'0" Long 127°27'0". Djailolo No. 2: Lat 1°10'0" Long 127°30'0". Wartime History Used by the Japanese as a military airfield. During September 1944 attacked by Allied bombers and fighters until January 1945 and neutralized from the air. Occupied by the Japanese until the official surrender of Japan in September 1945.
