Location Lat 0° 53' 43S Long 131° 17' 7E Domine Eduard Osok Airport is located at an elevation of 10' above sea level south of Sorong on the Vogelkop Peninsula at the northwestern tip of New Guinea. Prewar and during the Pacific War located in the Netherlands East Indies (NEI). Today located in Sorong Regency in West Papua Province of Indonesia. Construction During the late 1990s a small single runway was built at this location for smaller planes instead of using nearby Jefman Airport (Sorong-Jefman Airport). By the early 2000s, expanded to replace Jefman Airport (Sorong-Jefman Airport). Today During 2004, opened as Domine Eduard Osok Airport. The single runway is oriented 27/09 measures 6,070' x 90' surfaced with asphalt. Airport codes: IATA: SOQ, ICAO: WASS, WMO: 97502. During 2018, a new terminal was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo and Transportation Minister Ignatius Jonan. Today, this airport is the second largest airport in West Papua Province.
