Location
Located in western Manchuria to the east of Buyr Nur (Lake Bor) and 70km east of the border with Mongolia. In 1938, a Japanese built railway line was planned to span from Arshaan to Gandjur-Miao. Also spelled "Handjur-Miao".

Built by the Japanese during 1939.

Wartime History
During the Battle of Khalkhin Gol / Nomonhan Incident this airfield was near the frontline.

As early as May 13, JAAF aircraft began operating from this airfield to provide aerial support the Kwantung Army "Azuma Detachment" tasked with expelling Mongolians from the disputed border zone.

On June 17, Soviet fighters armed with 20mm cannons strafed Gandjur-Miao Airfield. This was possibly the first raid when Soviet aircraft deliberately crossed into Manchuria airspace to attack a target.

On June 23, 59 x Ki-27 of the 1st Sentai and 11th Sentai from Harbin and Hailar moved forward to Gandjur-Miao Airfield to participate in "Operational Order A-1".

On June 25, Ki-27 took off on an interception mission, dogfighting with I-15bis and lost Ki-27 piloted by Shintaro force landed in enemy territory who was rescued, but his plane was captured.

On June 27, Ki-27s took off from Gandjur-Miao to escort bombers attacking Soviet airfields in Mongolia.

Today
Disused since the war.
