THURSDAY, 25 MARCH 1943
(Eleventh Air Force) A weather airplane take photos of Holtz Bay and Chichapof Harbor on Attu. Fourteen B-24's, 3 B-25's, 12 P-38's, and 2 P-40's fly four missions against Kiska. Targets include the beach, Kiska runway, hangar area, North Head, the Main Camp and submarine base.
In Burma, eight B-25's bomb the engine sheds at Maymyo for the second consecutive day. Considerable damage is done although the main shed is not hit.
B-24's pound Rabaul. Single B-17s hit Gasmata and Ubili. B-24s hit shipping, the wharf and town area at Amboina. A single B-17 hit Lae.
U.S. Army: The Soldier's Medal is Awarded Cpl Harvey Crandle and Pfc Julius Franklin of the 96th Engineers General Service Regiment at Port Moresby for rescuing P-39 Airacobra pilot Lt. Robert G. Rose that crashed June 25, 1942.
USA: At the White House, U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt bestows the posthumous Medal of Honor earned by Brigadier General Kenneth N. Walker to his eldest son, Kenneth N. Walker, Jr.
