Location Lat 6°48'4"S Long 155°49'33"E Erventa Island is a small island bordering Erventa Harbor (Buin Harbor) off southern Bougainville in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (Bougainville Province) in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Also known as Erventa Islet or simply Erventa. To the southeast is Popotala Island. To the the north is the southern coast of Bougainville including Moisurui and Kahili. To the northeast is Tonolei Harbor. To the south is the international border between Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. Wartime History During early 1942, occupied by the Japanese until the official surrender of Japan in September 1945. Starting in 1944, bombed by Allied aircraft.
