Location Lat 6° 47' 21S Long 155° 47' 34E Moisuru is located at sea level at the mouth of the Moisuru River on the southern coast of Bougainville Island in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (Bougainville Province) in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Borders Moisuru Bay to the south and Erventa Harbor (Buin Harbor) to the west. To the southwest is Kahili and Kahili Airfield. During World War II, the Japanese Army referred to this location as "Buin". Offshore to the south is Erventa Island and Popotala Island. Wartime History Between 1942–1944 Moisuru was an unloading area for Moisuru Bay used as a Japanese anchorage. The coastal area was the Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) 17th Army headquarters area.
