| Location Lake Tondano at an elevation of 2,230' inside the crater of an extinct volcano on the Minahassa Peninsula of Sulawesi (Celebes). The lake has an area of approximately 50 square kilometers Also known as Tondano Lake. In Indonesian, known as Danau Tondano. Borders Kalkas (Kakas) and Tasuka on the southern edge. Prewar and during the Pacific War located in the Netherlands East Indies (NEI). Today located in Minahasa Regency in North Sulawesi Province (Sulawesi Utara) in Indonesia. Lake Tondano Seaplane Base Located on the southern portion of Lake Tondano bordering Kalkas Japanese missions against Lake Tondano December 26, 1941 Meanwhile, the 1st Yokosuka Special Naval Landing Force (SNLF) under Commander Toyoaki Horiuchi took off from Davao to conduct a paratrooper drop over Langoan Airfield. The 1st Company captured Langoan and the 2nd Copany advanced to Kakas and Lake Tondano Seaplane Base. In January 1942, Royal Netherlands East Indies Army (KNIL) "Tactical Command Kakas" commanded by Captain W. C. van den Berg was defending the area between Kakas to Langoan. Langoan Airfield was defended by the 41 brigade with 15-18 men each under the command of 1st Lieutenant J.G. Wielinga and reinforced by overvalwagens(armored cars) commanded by Sergeant-Major H.J. Robbemond. Afterwards, occupied by the Japanese for the duration of the Pacific War. During 1945 attacked by Allied bombers and fighters.
