Location Lat 1° 9' 19N Long 124° 50' 27E Langoan is located on the Minahassa Peninsula of the northeast of Sulawesi (Celebes). Also known as Langoon, West Langoan, Longoan or Langowan. To the northeast is Kalkas (Kakas) and beyond Lake Tondano. To the southwest is Mount Sempu and the taller cone of Soputan volcano. Prewar and during the Pacific War located in the Netherlands East Indies (NEI). Today located in Minahasa Regency in North Sulawesi Province (Sulawesi Utara) in Indonesia. Wartime History During January 1942 occupied by the Japanese for the duration of the Pacific War. Starting in January 1942 until late June 1945 attacked by Allied bombers and later fighters.
