Location
Lat 28°19′1″N Long 129°56′22″E Kikai Island is located in the Amami Islands (Amami-guntō) in Kagoshima Prefecture on Kyūshū Island in Japan. Also known as Kikaishima or Kikai Shima. Located 25km east of Amami Ōshima, roughly halfway between Okinawa and Kyūshū. During the Pacific War, known to the Americans as "Kikai Jima" or "Kikai Island".
Wartime History
During the war used by the Japanese Navy. By June 1945 the island was within range of American fighters based on Okinawa and Ie Shima.

Postwar
During September 1945, occupied by American forces. During 1953 returned to Japan.
