Location Lat 18° 11' 14N Long 120° 31' 34E Gaang is located at an elevation of 78' / 23m above sea level on the western coast of Ilocos Norte Province on Luzon in the Philippines. Also known as Gabo or Pias. To the northeast is Laoag and to the north is the Laoag River and to the south is Gaang. Borders the South China Sea to the west. Lat 17° 59' 44N Long 120° 29' 59E Gaang is located on the western coast in Ilocos Norte Province on Luzon in the Philippines. Also known as Gan, Gaan-Victoria or Currimao. To the north is Gabu (Gabo, Pias) and Laoag Airfield and beyond Laoag. Wartime History During December 1941, occupied by the Japanese Army for use as a secondary port facility to support their forces in northern Luzon. Today Gaang is known as Currimao. The habor is used for commercial shipping and as a fuel depot for Shell. Nestor Corpuz recalls: "In the early 1950's there were two wrecked Japanese WWII shipwrecks at the far side of the harbor.
