To the west is Salacsac Pass No. 1. To the east is Santa Fe. To the northeast roughly 1,000 yards away is Hill 530. Beyond to the northwest is Mount Imugan. Wartime History During the Battle of Villa Verde Trail, Imugan was used by the Japanese Army to deploy soldiers and supplies westward on the Villa Verde Trail. On March 15, 1945 the U.S. Army 32nd Infantry Division, 128th Infantry Regiment, 2d Battalion advanced to within 500 yards of Imugan; but was stopped by the defending Japanese. On May 28, 1945 at 10:00am, elements of the 128th Infantry Regiment and 32d Reconnaissance Troop entered Imugan without without opposition and made contact with elements of the 126th Infantry Regiment on Hill 530 roughly. This ended the Battle of Villa Verde Trail, although the Americans never reached Santa Fe. References 32d Infantry Division G-3 Operations Report, May 28, 1945: This morning elements of the 128th Infantry and the 32d Cavalry Reconnaissance Troop captured the important village of IMUGAN. This village, the center of enemy activity for deployment of troops to the east, south and west, was secured at 1000I when contact was made with elements of the 126th Infantry, now attached to the 25th Infantry Division, on Hill 530 (1000 yards north of IMUGAN)."
