    Santa Fe Nueva Vizcaya Province | Luzon Philippines
Location
Santa Fe is an inland town at an elevation of 2,509' / 764m in Nueva Vizcaya Province on Luzon in the Philippines. To the west is the Villa Verde Trail that spans 27 miles across the foothills of the Caraballo Mountains terminating at Santa Maria in Pangasinan Province. Connected by Highway 5 (Route 5) that spans northward to Bambang and southward via Balete Pass to Kapinatalan. Today officially known as the Municipality of Santa Fe.

Wartime History
On February 5, 1945 at the start of the Battle of Villa Verde Trail, the U.S. Army 32nd Infantry Division was ordered to advance westward along the Villa Verde Trail to capture Santa Fe but were bogged down for months in difficult terrain and determined resistance. During the battle, Santa Fe was used as a logistical base by the Japanese defending the trail and for reinforcements and supplies. Starting in early February 1945, Santa Fe was targeted by American bombers and fighters target Santa Fe.

American missions against Santa Fe
February 10, 1945–May 22, 1945

On May 26, 1945 after clearing a ravine on Highway 5 to the south, a patrol from the 25th Infantry Division, 27th Infantry Regiment reaches Santa Fe. On May 27, 1945 the entire 1st Bn, 27th Inf, 25th Div moves into Santa Fe ending the Battle of the Villa Verde Trail. On May 28, 1945 elements of 128th Inf, 32d Div, capture Imugan and establish contact with 126th Inf attached to 25th Division ending the Battle of Villa Verde Trail.
