    Cape Sudest Oro Province Papua New Guinea (PNG)
Location
Cape Sudest is located on the north coast of New Guinea to the south of Embogo and to the north of the mouth of the Sambogo River. Further to the northwest is Hariko. Further to the south is Oro Bay. Prewar and during the Pacific War part of the in the Northern District in the Territory of Papua. Today location in Oro Bay Rural LLG of Ijivitari District in Oro Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG).

Wartime History
After the Battle of Buna, the U.S. Army built a road that connected Cape Sudet inland to Borio (Boru) and another coastal road running north to Hariko and south towards Embogo. An Landing Ship Tank (LST) landing area and jetties were constructed on the coast. Also a hospital on the coast and staging area inland.

On December 21, 1943 Task Force Backhander under the command of Major General William H. Rupertus, USMC conducts final rehearsals off Cape Sudest for the upcoming invasion of Cape Gloucester.
