Location
Nateara Reef is a fringing coral reef off the southern coast of New Guinea. Also spelled Nadeara Reef. To the north is Fairfax Harbor, Walter Bay and Joyce Bay, the reef spans from roughly Port Moresby to Pari. On the western end is the Basilisk Passage and beyond Sinavi Reef and Fishermans Island. To the south is the Coral Sea.

SS Pruth (Moresby Wreck)
Ran aground December 30, 1923. During the Pacific War, the shipwreck was bombed by Japanese bombers on at least two occasions. Seven Allied Aircraft were lost attacking the shipwrecks killing 20 Allied personnel between November 10, 1942 to September 29, 1943.
