Location Lat 4° 10' 60S Long 144° 50' 60E Nubia village is located at sea level on the north coast of New Guinea bordering Hansa Bay to the east. To the north is Awar Point (Condor Point). To the southeast is Potsdam Plantation. Today located in Madang Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Prewar During the German era, this area was developed into Potsdam Plantation and planted with coconut palms harvesting copra and had a Catholic missionaries built Old Nubia Airfield at Potsdam Plantation. Wartime History During January 1943, the area was occupied by the Japanese Army that built Nubia Airfield (Hansa South) at this location and never utilized Old Nubia Airfield. Starting in the middle of April 1943 until May 1944 targeted by Allied bombers and fighters. American missions against Nubia April 12, 1943–May 3, 1944 In the middle of June 1944, the Australian Army occupied the Nubia area.
