Location Lat 9° 32' 8" S Long 147° 14' 32" E Pyramid Point is feature with an elevation of 384' / 117m on the southern coast of New Guinea at the western entrance to Bootless Bay. The name is derrived from the pyramid shape when viewed from Port Moresby. The local name is Vanagi. This feature is visible from the eastern side of Port Moresby including Ela Beach and Kila Kila. To the northwest is Pari and beyond Joyce Bay, Walter Bay, Ela Beach and Port Moresby. Offshore to the southwest is Nateara Reef. Prewar and during the Pacific War located in the Central District of Territory of Papua. Today located in the National Capital District (NCD) of Papua New Guinea (PNG). 'C' Australian Heavy Battery (Bootless Battery) This gun battery was first emplaced on the beach at the edge of Kila Bay, but this location was unsuitable, it was then moved Stokes Range (Maata Ridge) but also proved unsatisfactory.
