Location
Tadji is located on the north coast of New Guinea. Inland to the south is Tadji Airfield. To the west is Pro and Vokau and beyond Aitape. To the east is Nor, Rilia, Lemieng at the mouth of the Nigia River and beyond the Driniumor River. Nearby is Wopil. Prewar and during the Pacific War located in the Territory of New Guinea. Today located in the Aitape-Lumi District of West Sepik Province in Papua New Guinea (PNG).

Prewar
In the local language, Tadji means "our land" and is reportedly what local people told the first Europeans that arrived in the area when asked for the name. A Catholic mission was established at Tadji on the coast.

Wartime History
During early 1943, occupied by the Japanese Army who built an airfield at this location.

American missions against Tadji
August 17, 1943–April 22, 1944

On April 22, 1944 the U.S. Army 32nd Infantry Division, 163rd Infantry Regiment landed at "Blue Beach" at Tadji and advanced eastward and westward along the beach then inland to occupy Tadji Airfield. Afterwards, it was repaired and expanded for Allied by both American and Australian aircraft.

Tadji Airfield
Built by the Japanese occupied by Allies and used as an airfield until the end of the Pacific War.
