Location Orlofe Island is an oval shapped island in the Shortland Island Group (Shortland Islands) in the northern Solomon Islands. Also spelled Orlofi. To the west is Shortland Harbor and beyond Shortland Island. To the east is Onua Island. To the southwest is Poporang Island and Alu Island (Pirumeri). Prewar and during the Pacific War part of the British Solomon Islands Protectorate (BSIP). Today located in Western Province in the Solomon Islands. Wartime History A prewar copra plantation, one of the McDonald daughters married Tindal and settled the island. Clara Scott also lived on the island before the war, the steps of which still remain to this day. After the war, the copra plantation was resumed, and continued until the 1970s.
