Location Treasure Island is an artificial island inside San Francisco Bay in San Francisco County in California in the United States. Borders Clipper Cove to the south and beyond Yerba Buena Island. To the southwest is San Francisco. This island was built during 1936-1937 for the 1939 Golden Gate International Exposition (GGIE) and was a World's Fair site in 1939 and 1940. Connected by a 900' causeway to Yerba Buena Island which in turn has on- and off-ramps onto Interstate 80 (I-80) between San Francisco and Oakland. Pan Am Clipper Terminal Also known as Treasure Island Marine Base Terminal includes Clipper Cove. NAS Treasure Island Closed postwar. Quarters One (Nimitz House) Nimitz House, 1 Whiting Way, San Francisco, CA 94130 Home known as Quarters One on Yerba Buena Island to the south of Treasure Island. Retired Fleet Admiral Chester W.
