USN 87th Construction Battalion
The Earthmovers 1943-1945

This book is the unit history of the U.S. Navy (USN) 87th Naval Construction Battalion (87th NCB) "Seabees", published in 1945 and provided exclusively to members of the unit. This history includes many photographs, maps and detailed information. The book details their training and deployment overseas, including their combat landing on Mono Island on October 27, 1943. Next, building Stirling Airfield in record time.

During September 1944, the 87th Battalion was move to New Caledonia where more construction projects were undertaken. Later, deployed to Saipan and then to Okinawa. There, they worked on Yontan Airfield. Next, they built Bolo Airfield for B-29 operations.
