Aerial view westward of MV Macduhi shipwreck in Fairfax Harbor
At the center is the shipwreck of MV Macduhi that sank June 18, 1942 after being hit by Japanese bombs during an air raid against Port Moresby. The damaged ship was set ablaze, drifted then ran aground on a coral reef off Hanuabada and rolled over onto the port side and partially sank. The shipwreck remains in situ to this day. During the late 2010s, a small barge grounded near the bow and sank. In the background is an anchored tanker. Credit: Justin Taylan Date: March 2, 2019
