Houkoku/Aikoku Patriotic Presentation Numbered Aircraft
During the Second Sino-Japanese War and during the Pacific War, Japanese companies, civilian volunteer groups and private donors funded the purchase of military equipment for the Navy and Army. To acknowledge their donation, each piece of equipment was assigned a numeric patriotic presentation number and painted with the donor's name. For the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) these were Houkoku Gou. For the Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) these were Aikoku Gou.
