Location Lat 14° 22' 0" N Long 120° 37' 0" E Bataan Airfield was located near Lucanin (Lokanin) on the Bataan Peninsula in Bataan Province on Luzon in the Philippines. Also known as "Bataan Field" or "Limay Airfield" for nearby Limay. To the north is Lamao. Construction Built by the U.S. Army as a single runway 5,100' in length. Wartime History During December 1941 until April 1942 use by the Far East Air Force (FEAF) fighters and bombers for the defense of the Philippines and the Defense of Bataan. During early April 1942 American units based at Bataan Airfield 27th BG, 17th BS (ground echelon) Cabcaben Dec 28, 1941–March 1, 1942 arrives Batchelor 27th BG, 91st BS (ground echelon) Lipa Dec 1941–January 5, 1942 arrives Bataan 27th BG, HQ–March 1, 1942 arrives Batchelor 24th Pursuit Group (P-40) arrives Dec 31, 1941–April 8, 1942 departs Mindanao 35th Pursuit Group, 21st Pursuit Squadron (P-40) Lubao arrives January 4, 1942 On April 8, 1942 occupied by the Japanese. During the Japanese occupation of the Philippines unknown if used as a military airfield. Starting in the middle of January 1945 attacked by American bombers and fighters until liberated in late February 1945. American missions against Bataan Peninsula January 18, 1945–February 21, 1945 Today Disused since the war.
