RAN: Launched is Bathurst class corvette HMAS Pirie (J189) from Broken Hill Propriety Shipyard at Whyalla.
IJN: Desron 6 including Yayoi arrives at Kwajalein. Nissan Kisen K. K. passenger and cargo vessel Hitati Maru is converted for use as an ammunition vessel by Mitsubishi Jukogyo K. K. (Mitsubishi Heavy Industries) at Kobe.
USN: During anti-aircraft gunnery practice, USS Bagley (DD-386) the starboard bilge keel tore loose and needs repairs at Pearl Harbor.
Yacht Isabel (PY-10) sails for coast of French Indochina, deployed in accordance with President Roosevelt's "defensive information patrol" order.
USS Argonaut (SS-166) arrives off Midway Island on simulated war patrol.
