| Location Lat 5° 25' 60S Long 145° 43' 60E Bogadjim village is located along the north coast of New Guinea. To the north is Bom, Gori River, Erima and further to the north is Madang. Borders Astrolabe Bay to the east and to the south is the Gileb Creek, Stephansort and the mouth of the Mindjim River (Minjeng River). During the Pacific War known to the Allies as "Bogadjim". The local spelling is "Bugadjim" or "Bogadyim". Today located in Madang Province in Papua New Guinea. Prewar The Bogadjim-Yaula Track, a native native walking trail spanned from Bogadjim inland to Yaula. Wartime History During 1943 when the Japanese Army occupied Bogadjim, the local people fled inland eastward towards the Mindjim River. By the middle of 1943 occupied by 18th Army 20th Division, 78th Infantry Regiment providing labor for the Bogadjim Road (Bogadjim-Yaula Road) inland to Yaula. American missions against Bogadjim June 1, 1943 - April 2, 1944 During October 1943, the Australian Army, 2/6 Commando Squadron, B Troop under the command of Lt. Charlie Ball managed to patrol on the Solu River and patrolled up to the Bogadjim Road and reached Bogadjim. On April 13, 1944, during the Battle of Bogadjim, the Australian Army 57th / 60th The Infantry Battalion defeated the Japanese in the area of Stephansort and Bogadjim. By late April 1944 the No. 5 Base Supply Depot was established to store supplies in support of operations further up the coast.
