Location
Lat 5° 33' 27S Long 145° 38' 17E  Yaula village is located in the foothills of the Finisterre Range inland from the north coast of New Guinea and Astrolabe Bay. To the northeast is Bogadjim on the coast and to the southeast further inland is Shaggy Ridge. Today, located in Madang Province in Papua New Guinea.

Prewar
The Bogadjim-Yaula Track spanneed from Bogadjim inland to Yaula.

Construction
By June 1943, the Japanese Army had surveyed walking tracks and prewar roads on the north coast for development into a military road from the north coast across the Finisterre Range to the Ramu Valley then onward to Lae. The Japanese planned to expand the prewar Bogadjim-Yaula Track as Yaula. By September 1943, the Japanese Army completed the Bogadjim Road (Bogadjim-Yaula Road) suitable for trucks far as Yaula.

Wartime History
This location was used as a supply dump area. From this location, horses carrying cargo were used to transport supplies onward to Kankiryo and twice a week across the Finisterre Range to the Ramu Valley. By January 1944, all the horses had died from malnutrition or being overworked. Afterwards, Japanese labor was used with each man carrying 30kg of cargo until early 1944 when construction ceased as Allied forces advanced to this area.

On April 9, 1944 occupied by the Australian Army 57/60th Infantry Battalion. At this location, they captured at least two Japanese Army Isuzu TU10 6x4 trucks plus other logistical material including a large wooden wheel and fuel drums.

Bogadjim Road (Bogadjim-Yaula Road)
Built by the Japanese Army in August 1943 and used until early 1944 when liberated by the Australian Army
