Lat 9° 7′ 15″ S Long 160° 9′ 17″ E Songonangona Island is a small island in the Florida Island Group (Florida Islands). To the north is Kokomtambu Island (Kokomu Tambu) and Mbangai Island off Tulagi Island and beyond Florida Island (Nggela Sule, Big Gela). To the south is larger Songonangona Island and beyond Iron Bottom Sound. Prewar and during the Pacific War part of the British Solomon Islands Protectorate (BSIP). Today, Kokomtambu Island and Songonangona Island are connected by a narrow spit of land in Central Province in the Solomon Islands.
