| Location The Florida Island Group (Florida Islands) is located in Central Province in the Solomon Islands. The Florida Island Group (Florida Islands) includes from northwest to southeast: Buena Vista Island, Olevuga Island, Sandfly Passage, Florida Island (Nggela Sule, Big Gela), Tulagi Island, Nggela Pile (Small Gela) and Mandoliana Island. To the south is Iron Bottom Sound and Guadalcanal. To the west is Indispensable Strait and Malaita Island. During the Pacific War, the U.S. code named the Florida Islands "Ringbolt". Prewar and during the Pacific War part of the British Solomon Islands Protectorate (BSIP). Today located in Central Province in the Solomon Islands. Gavutu Island (Ghavutu, Gabutsu) located in Gavutu Harbor connected by causeway to Tanambogo Tanambogo Island (Tanombago) located in Gavutu Harbor connected by causeway to Gavutu. Palm Island (Gaomi) small island to the northeast of Tanambogo in in Gavutu Harbor. Gavutu Harbor borders Gavutu, Tanambogo, Palm and Florida Island (Nggela Sule).
