| Location Central Province encompasses the Florida Island Group, Russell Island Group and Savo Island in the center of the Solomon Islands. Borders Iron Bottom Sound and Guadalcanal Province to the south and Malaita Province to the east, Santa Isabel Province (Isabel Province) to the north and Western Province to the northwest. Prewar and during the Pacific War part of the British Solomon Islands Protectorate (BSIP). Today located in Central Province in the Solomon Islands. Previously, Central Province included Rennell and Bellona Province until it became a separate province in 1993. Carter City (Mbolo, Bolo) located on a peninsula on southern coast of Florida Island. Nggela Pile (Small Gela) located to the southeast of Florida Island. Makambo Island (Macambo) small island off Tulagi developed into PT Boat base. Gavutu Island (Ghavutu, Gabutsu) located in Gavutu Harbor connected by causeway to Tanambogo Tanambogo Island (Tanombago) located in Gavutu Harbor connected by causeway to Gavutu. Palm Island (Gaomi) small island to the northeast of Tanambogo in in Gavutu Harbor. Gavutu Harbor borders Gavutu, Tanambogo, Palm and Florida Island (Nggela Sule). Tulagi Island located to the south of Florida Island prewar colonial headquarters. Tulagi Harbor (Tulagi Anchorage, Tulagi Roads) located between Tulagi Island and Florida Island. Mbangai Island small island south of Tulagi. Kokomtambu Island (Kokomu Tambu) small island south of Tulagi today connected to Songonangona.
