The Udvar-Hazy Center was opened to the public in December 2003 to displays a large portion of the Smithsonian Institution National Air & Space Museum (NASM) aircraft collection. The Mary Baker Engen Restoration Hangar where aircraft restoration and repairs are performed on the collection. Also, the National Air & Space Museum archives and researcher center. Previously, many of the aircraft on display at the Udvar-Hazy Center were in storage at the National Air & Space Museum (NASM) Paul E. Garber Facility. Also, the National Air & Space Museum (NASM) Downtown displays other aircraft in the collection.

World War II Aviation Gallery
The World War II Aviation Gallery includes fighter, bomber and observation planes used by the United States, Japan, Germany and Britan. Aircraft are displayed at three levels: the first level, ground floor, second level and third level nearest ot the ceiling.
