Ship History Built Electric Boat Company (Elco) in Bayonne, NJ. Laid down March 25, 1942. Launched July 3, 1942. Completed July 23, 1942. Wartime History Assigned to Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron 5, under the command of Commander Henry Farrow, USN. Patrolled in the Panama Canal zone starting September 1942. On September 22, 1942 assigned to Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron 2 (MTBRon 3) of Division 17. Nicknamed "Green Banana". On April 1, 1943 assigned to Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron 8 (MTBRon 8) and shipped to the Pacific. Nicknamed "Zero Chaser". By February 1, 1943 this PT-Boat was in poor condition from being grounded and operations, it was towed to Carins and rebuilt. Operated from Morobe PT Boat Base. Sinking History On August 8, 1943 grounded "high and dry" on Veale Reef near Tufi. All attempts to free the boat failed, and instead all usable equipment was removed and the hull abandoned on the reef. Display PT-113's builder's plaque is displayed in the PT Boat Museum aboard USS Massachuetts (BB-59) moored at Battleship Cove.
