Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron Ten (MTBRon 10), also known as MTBS 10, MTB Squadron 10 or Squadron 10. On December 9, 1942 commissioned under the command of Lt. Comdr. Thomas G. Warfield. The squadron's PT Boats departed the United States motoring down the east coast of the United States via the Caribbean Sea to Balboa in Panama. During World War II, the squadron operated only 80' Elco Motor Torpedo Boats (PT Boats) in the South Pacific (SOPAC) and later in the South West Pacific Area (SWPA).

Wartime History
During May 1943 six PT Boats (PT-167, PT-172, PT-173 and PT-171, PT-174 and PT-165) were transported as deck cargo aboard SS Stanvac Manila across the Pacific to the South Pacific (SOPAC). On May 24, 1943 tanker SS Stanvac Manila was torpedoed by Japanese submarine I-17 with the loss of PT-165 and PT-173. The other four PT Boats (PT-167, PT-172 and PT-171, PT-174) were freed from their cradles and were towed by a destroyer to Nouméa Harbor.

In the Solomon Islands participated in action at Rendova, Vella Lavella, Treasury Islands, Bougainville and Green Island PT Boat Base (Nissan). On February 7, 1944 Lt. Comdr. Jack E. Gibson became the Commanding Officer (C. O.).

During April 1944, transferred to the South West Pacific Area (SWPA) and participated in action at Saidor on New Guinea, Morotai Island and Balikpapan on Borneo. The squadron also operated from Mios Woendi PT Boat Base of Dutch New Guinea (DNG) and Samar in the Philippines but had no action at either location.

On February 26, 1945 Lt. Comdr. Francis H. McAdoo, Jr. became the Commanding Officer (C. O.) until the end of the Pacific War. On October 14, 1945 Lt. Frederick N. Goehner became the Commanding Officer (C. O.). On November 11, 1945 decomissioned with all the squadron's PT Boats placed out of service, stripped of usable parts and scuttled at Samar.
