| Location Hill 78 is a feature located near the north coast of Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands. This feature was designated "Hill 78" by the Americans during the Guadalcanal campaign. To the north was the east-west government track and beyond Point Cruz. To the east is Matanikau and the Matanikau River. To the west is Hill 84. To the southwest is Hill 80. To the southeast is Hill 75. Today, Hill 78 is part of Honiara. Prewar and during the Pacific War part of the British Solomon Islands Protectorate (BSIP). Today located in Guadalcanal Province in the Solomon Islands. Today Since independence in 1978, the Solomon Islands National Parliament was constructed atop this hill accessible via Upper Vavaya Ridge Road.
