In late January 1942 sent overseas to Australia. In late February 1942 arrives in Sydney. On May 15, 1942 redesignated as the Headquarters Squadron (HQ Squadron) of the 35th Fighter Group (35th FG).
On July 22, 1942 moves to 7 Mile Drome near Port Moresby in New Guinea.
On August 15, 1943 moves to Tsili Tsili Airfield.
On February 7, 1944 moves to Gusap Airfield.
On April 22, 1944 lost is P-47D Thunderbolt pilot Major William F. McDonough who experienced issued and bailed out. His parachute failed to open and died when he hit the ground.
On July 22, 1944 moves to Owi Airfield on Owi Island in the Schouten Island Group.
On September 27, 1944 moves to Morotai Island in the Maluku Islands (Moluccas Islands).
On January 20, 1945 moves to Mangaldan Airfield on Luzon in the Philippines.
On April 10, 1945 moves to Lingayen Airfield. On April 19, 1945 moves to Clark Field.
On June 28, 1945 moves to Okinawa until the end of the Pacific War.
